Chinmaya Alumni

                                                                   Hari:Om

Old Student's Association of Chinmaya Vidyalaya (OSAC):

HISTORY:

The Old Student's association was inaugurated a decade back and its pillars are the alumni, the strength of which has soared up to 50. It is very likely that this number is only expected to improve more in the future years to come. The backbone of any activity or work in Chinmaya mission is its strong spiritual and moral values. Students who were cradled here till X std for their education felt a big vacuum to rat-race in the so called artificial world which only has materialism at its core. So, the like-minded gems of Chinmaya, most of who are in the corporate world, took it upon themselves to form an association with a motto of contributing something back to their Holy-Cradle. OSAC, since its inception, has been striving hard for the upcoming brigades of the school. This bridging of the corporate and the students brings about the best possible platform for the students to learn a lot of aspects.  It is only the selfless service and dedication from the alumni that has seen OSAC continue its immense contribution.

ACTIVITIES:

These are the following activities conducted through out the year:

  1. Inter-school culture Quiz (annual event – quiz on India) in January.
  2. Summer camp called “LOGIN” conducted for the school students for 1 week.
  3. Bhajan Sandhya in August – audio visual show performed by old students for the general audience as a mark of paying homage to our Gurudev, H.H.Swami Chinmayananda, the architect of Chinmaya Mission. This event is conducted on his Maha Samadhi day which is called as ARADHANA day.
  4. 1 day workshop on Personality and character development for IX & X std students.
  5. Felicitating the X std toppers and providing sponsorship for few deserving financially poor students from OSAC fund. OSAC has a bank account for this purpose which is funded by its patriotic alumni.

THE LIFE ENGINE BEHIND OSAC:

It is very essential to throw light upon the principle by which OSAC operates. Decoding the moral values of the scriptures according to the needs of the modern world, OSAC’s life engine is “Unite, Serve and grow” like the Olympic flames. Regardless of the background, the alumni unite together for execution of activities (importance to Oneness), work with a selfless endeavor (importance to karma yoga) and grow by way of interaction and knowledge sharing. In this way, they also set the tone or lead by example for the future students of the school. Simply put, the vision and words of Gurudev (H.H. Swami Chinmayananda) is the heart-beat of OSAC and its activities and the chariot is headed in the right direction with his divine grace and blessings.

Chinmaya Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Srirangam

One such Vidyalaya is our school, located at Aruna Nagar 1st Street, Srirangam, one of the most sacred Sthalams dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It was started in the year 1982 with a complement of 2 teachers and about 15 students, mainly to cater to the educational needs of children particularly from the middle class strata. By the benevolent patronage of the managing trustees, and sustained and dedicated work of the teachers, this school has grown into an institution with a vision, having about 1.5K+ students on its rolls and nearly 80 teachers.

Chinmaya Movement

This movement, founded by H. H. Swami Chinmayanandaji, needs no formal introduction-known for the stellar role it played in the crusade against moral degradation in our country, The Movement has, in its wake, established a country-wide net work of Mission Kendras to redeem the lost moral values. As an adjunct to the Movement, and in tune with the saying, " Open a school to close a prison ," this Movement has been instrumental in the opening of Temples of Education- VIDYALAYAS -all over the country. There are now 72 such Vidyalayas through the length and breath of this Holy Land of Ours.
